ASSISTANT coach Andy Hay says Hull FC's players are excited about seeing how they match up to a Warrington side which has set the early-season benchmark.

Hay points to Warrington's draw at Wigan in round two as the best game of the season so far in terms of quality, with the Black and Whites seeing that performance as a standard to aim at.

Having witnessed a steady improvement from his side in the past three weeks, Hay is optimistic Hull can hit those heights soon and says tomorrow's game at the KC will show how far Hull have come.

"This week will be another good test for us," he told the Mail.

"Last week at St Helens was a good test, but they are still finding their feet at the minute, like we are. Warrington are a bit in front of everyone else and it will be great to get them down here and see where we are this week.

"The boys and the coaching staff are excited. We want to have a close look at Warrington and see how our attack goes against them and how well we defend against them."

Despite being known as a team with one of the most potent attacks in Super League, Hay has identified the Warrington defence as the biggest obstacle to overcome this week.

Preparing to face a large pack that comfortably got the better of Catalans' aggressive forwards last week, Hull's kicking game will be crucial.

Hay added: "Attacking-wise, we have to break them down, and we need to get our kicking game right.

"They are a big strong team with a big strong forward pack. Last week Catalan tried to bash them down the middle and couldn't do that, so we know they are a big strong side.

"People credit them for their attack, but their defence is really strong.

"They are willing to back themselves in attack and push plays and sometimes making errors, because their defence is so strong."

“keep it simple and don't overplay things as well as the need for a FULL 80 minutes of discipline and concentration, then we will be in with a shout. simply complete around 75-80% of sets and a good kicking game will always give any team a chance against ANY opposition. but it's easier said than done. mr westerman is 1 player that springs to mind when i say keeping discipline is vital if we have a chance to win this game.

i'm going for a warrington win by 8-16 points, but think it'll be a tough game in which we will just fall short.
kr to win by no less than 25 points, anything less i think mr sandercock will be disappointed.”
