ENGLAND Knights captain Danny Houghton says he's determined to seize his chance and put his name in the hat for a place at next year's World Cup.

The Hull FC hooker has been named captain of the Keiron Purtill's Knights team for the forthcoming Alitalia Cup games against Ireland and Scotland at the end of the month.

    2013 hope: Danny Houghton

Succeeding Hull team-mate Joe Westerman as captain of the England development side, Houghton says he's relishing the opportunity given to him and a chance to captain for the first time since leading Hull's Under-21s side to a Grand Final success five years ago.

With next year's World Cup in England in his thoughts, Houghton believes he has a great chance in the next two matches to hand coach Steve McNamara a reminder of his talents.

"I'm really looking forward to this chance with the England Knights and it's an honour to be named captain," Houghton told the Mail.

"These games are a chance for me and all the players in this Knights side to put our names in the hat for next year's World Cup. I intend to play my best and leave Steve McNamara with something to think about. That's all I can do.

"I'm looking forward to playing again.

"We've got a really good side with the Knights, there are some really good players and we are all looking forward to seeing what we can do."

“And cue the hypocrite that is the donkey man commenting about a club he doesn't even support and about things you know nothing about and critcises others for doing the same. How many passes have the dobbins sold? By the way, your new shop looks cheap and tacky from the outside. it spoils what is a nice street”

    “Watergate?

Compared to Minstergate it's nothing. The conspiracy theory to end all conspiracy theories, why?

    Questions and Answers:

Why have Gateshull (est.1998) opted to ditch the famous multinational P&O for a small garage in Hessle? - Maybe P&O took a dim view of the OxyElite drug scandal.

Is it money? - No, they they are a Big Club, they have sh*tloads tons of the stuff..

Have they too many internationals on their books? - Should have, they promised they would sign them.

Where is Rangi? - He opted for plan A (or perhaps C or D.) in any event, he isn't coming.

Is it a ploy to slow down pass sales because the hard working staff are overwhelmed? - Perhaps, they they need more time to cope.

Will 14.500 pour through the gates every home game next season? - Only when they play the only Super League team in Hull that gained it's present status by merit.

Are Gateshull (est.1998) attempting to emulate the Bradford Bulls meltdown? - Yes, they are having a real go at it.

Do the Faithful really BELI3VE? - of course they do, they don't know any better.

Only time will tell - watch this space. One day the mystery may be solved.

    lol”
