The 29-year-old is in hospital today and will have surgery on the injury before beginning a rehabilitation process that is expected to take six weeks.

Yeaman has been an ever-present this year after recovering from a foot injury in the off-season which saw him miss the start of pre-season training.

In other news forward Danny Tickle has taken an early guilty plea to his Grade B charge of punching following the Castleford match and will now miss Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield with a one match ban.

Mark O’Meley was charged with the same offence, however Hull will contest the charge when O’Meley attends a hearing at the RFL this evening.

“I can't understand how anyone can get concerned at what position your team is in at such an early stage in the competition

Leeds have shown on two occasions, that 5th at the end is not a draw back to being champions.

I still struggle to understand why a coach would alter 4 or 5 positions to cover one injury.

Surely the logic would be a straight swop.

If not, what's the point of having a reserve pool to cover any injuries.”

“Team for Saturday: McDonnell, Briscoe, Crooks, Arundel, Lineham, Holdsworth, Horne, Lynch, Houghton, O'Meley, Galea, Westerman, Watts, Green, Whiting, Pitts, Bowden.

Watts played loose man for KR in the 3 prop system if I remember rightly and against a strong Hudds pack this would make sense. Whiting on the bench gives many options one of which is coming on in the halves for 10-15 minutes allowing Horne to step in at 9 if Houghton needs a breather.

Galea could also step into a half role. Another option would be to play Crookes in the centre as I believe he played their as a junior and Johnson may be another option on the bench.

Whichever side he goes with are going to have to get stuck in early and our kicking game needs to be spot on.”

    “2 buscuits

aint it interesting that anything sensible on these threads get rated down by the plebs simply because they do not understand 'comment and debate'

Take your point about Briscoe but that was three seasons ago. He has bulked up and in my opinion would suit centre. Ben is more a winger too, again in my opinion.

I have always said 'you dont fix something that aint broke' and that right hand combination, if let alone to develop, could be awesome. We need to get the left side 'clicking' again and the problem there is none of the players discussed so far, its the lack of a Manu to do the forcing.”

“Peter Gentle wont mess around he will just bring Ben Crooks back into right centre and Arundle will switch to left centre.
I agree we have to stop Danny Brough kicking us out of the game the way we did against Castleford.
i want to see Hull FC breaking the line more from open play.I know kicking is an important part of the game now but if we are not careful the game will end up getting boring.
Maybe time to look at less points for a try resulting from a kick, to encourage more open play running.”
