HULL KR have moved to sign Huddersfield Giants' star Greg Eden as the answer to their full-back problem.

Rovers had been facing starting the new season without a recognised full-back, having so far failed to replace Shannon McDonnell.

However, a move for Eden, who turns 22 on Thursday, looks set to be completed this week after the Robins made a cash offer for his services.

Eden's arrival will be seen as a positive move by the club to strengthen, and he will become the eighth new signing by coach Craig Sandercock ahead of the new season.

Eden may only have 25 Super League games to his name, but he has already built a promising reputation in the English game.

Former Giants coach Nathan Brown, who signed him from Castleford at the end of the 2011 season, once described Eden as the 'next Billy Slater'.

Eden has a reputation for being an attacking full-back who likes to get on the end of breaks with his support play.

He first came to prominence in the Rugby League 9s, when he helped Castleford reach the finals night.

Huddersfield then lured him away ahead of the start of last season, and he helped the Giants race to top spot in April, with six tries in the opening nine games.

Brown's departure in July saw Paul Anderson take over as head coach, and he has now deemed Eden surplus to requirements with Scott Grix, Leroy Cudjoe and Aaron Murphy all capable of playing full-back.

Rovers could start next season with an all English back-line if Eden completes his move, as expected.

He could be joined by Dave Hodgson and Craig Hall on the wings, with Kris Welham and Sean Gleeson in the centres.

Omari Caro, Alex Brown and Liam Salter are also pushing for their opportunities.

“Ha ha ha even Batley didn't want the midget, Greg Eden.ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
I notice Nathan Brown who is now at the Saints didn't want him even though he knows Wellens is on his last season with the club.LOL
However this signing fully justifies the Dobbin's new name "Rovers Rejects" and they will be a good team when they drop down to the Championship. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
With this quality of signings it's no wonder that the Reject's season pass sales finished on 2,100.

Oh dear another of auntie Slammer's predictions, that they were going to sign Castleford's Richard Owen, failed to materialise.ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha”

“I think McDonnell will do well for Hull given the players around him and a different attitude to last season. However, when things get a bit tough which way will he get going?”

“LOL at FC on the 'Up'

You have no idea what ROvers signings are like because you know nothing about them.

OK, if you're so clever give me the low down, the inside info, on all the new faces at Rovers. Hmmm, all quiet eh, you know nothing about them.

Perhaps you could also tell me how you think Pearson's imaginary team will so, and how Prince, Chase, Paea, Bateman, Miller and Amor and the six other players that were 'in the bag' will perform??”

“Twiglets, as good a player as Eden is, just remember he won't have the quality around him that he had at Huddersfield. As for good business, it is. But it's the only good business you've done in the close season, you're other signings are poor replacements for the players that have left. That's not a dig, it's just true. And before you get flighty, i would rather have Eden than McDonnell. FC have took a gamble on McDonnell imo.”

“The Fullback role has changed out of all recognition, but so has RL. For the worse IMO.
So many skills have been lost or are superfluous in the "ersatz rugby"we now watch.
Arthur Bunting new every trick in the book and a few unwrittens ones as all 7s did, now a "scrum-half" is nothing of the sort, just as a hooker has nothing to do with a scrum, effectively. The idea that a good fullback would let a ball bounce from a kick is an insult to former top "last lines". A fullback linking from a scrum [a proper one] would create an opening for a winger, that was a player with speed, skill and balance ,not a donkey used to "rest" forwards, some who only play half a match anyway.
If this kid is not a massive improvement on McNugget I will eat my pass .”

    “Agree that Brough will not be picked but think he should be considered;
I thought a chance was lost in the first two matches and some of the selections were pointless if the WC was being planned for. We all know what Morley can do for instance.
Hows this; Tomkins.Charnley.Watkins.Atkins.Hall.Widdop.Brough.Burgess.Roby.Westwood.Ellis. Oloughlin....subs. Hardaker.Sinfield.Hill.Hock. The last sub spot only if Hock develops a "sensible head".”
