HULL's three MPs today (Tuesday) helped pave the way for gay marriage after the House of Commons backed controversial legislation to legalise same-sex unions.

Following a five-hour debate the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill passed its second reading by 400 votes to 175.

Labour MPs Diana Johnson, Karl Turner and Alan Johnson all voted "yes", while 139 Conservative MPs defied their party to vote "no".

East Yorkshire MP Greg Knight and Haltemprice and Howden MP David Davis were among the Tory rebels, although Brigg and Goole MP Andrew Percy supported the legislation.

“Oh, and Albaz, yes you are a vile, ignorant bigot. E Yorks has 98% white people and needs fresh blood, bring on the immigrants you racist, Europhobic homophobic piece of filth! Check your history-we are ALL descended from immigrants in the UK you idiot.”

“Disgusted that some of our dinosaur MPs, including the constant homophobe David Davis (who voted to criminalise gay young adults for having consensual sex at an age that is legal for straight people) voted against others having the same rights they enjoy. That is what bigots always do. Good on Cameron, Clegg and Milibands for all supporting equal marriage, which the vast majority of the public support. Don't like same sex marriage? Well, just don't marry someone of the same sex! Think it is OK to go around making bigoted comments and to deny others their basic human rights? You are a bigot then, and we will fight you, and - as always - we will win.”

“Marty, check out the post at 2.37 and there is that word again and with double "gg".
That poster claims on another thread to be a chatholic(sic) and calls people "mindless".
Anyway my last word now as I'm not getting into(no pun) gay Christians.

The "F"word if your serious, can be 3 or 6 letters.A foodstuff (6) or a public school dogsbody(3) or of course an insulting term for a Homosexual. American mainly I believe”

    “Dear albaz,

If you read what I wrote you will see that I did not (directly) call you bigotted. I was referred to the bigotted few. If you choose to be defined that way I support your right to do so. I have also not used the term homophobe about you. If you choose to be defined that way, I also support that.

I agree that women and men have to be involved in creating life (artificially or naturally). That means nothing to this argument, however. It also suggests that I want all married people to be of the same sex. I do not. I want a diverse, but equal, population of happy, tolerant people.

I am not "ashamed" of the word Homosexual. The word is a bit clinical. I choose to define myself as a gay man.

I can work out the Q and P words, but what the deuce is the F word?

You talk about this massive majority of people who think in ways similar to yours, but I am yet to meet this massive majority. Almost exclusively, the people that I have met support each individual's right to marry. These people are mainly straight and from a diverse set of backgrounds. Perhaps the difference is that they put their brains into work before spouting off. Just a thought.

Finally, in answer to "Why is it that you are all for equality but use offensive terms for the massive majority of the country that has different ideas of what marriage means?" Look at the end of your sentence. The massive majority of the country does have different ideas of what marriage means. Each person on this planet will have a different idea of what marriage is. I'm glad to see that we can have different ideas of marriage. Well done on opening your mind to that. Glad to have you in the "different idea of marriage" camp.”

    “Martinosaurus;
    Fatuous with a capital F.
To avoid anymore nonsense have you the time to answer the questions people like me always ask.
Forget artificial ways and the Reg Dwight Dada/Papa farce, lets stay with NATURAL.
Would be here had a man and Woman not been involved?
Why have those of your persuasion usurped the word "gay"are you all ashamed of the term Homosexual?
Why is it that you are all for equality but use offensive terms for the massive majority of the country that has different ideas of what marriage means.
I have no fear or phobia about Homosexuals therefore I am not Homophobic.
I state your sexual proclivity is your business and you have every right to your opinion so I am not intolerant .
Nobody has used words towards Homosexuals that begin with Q, F, or P yet Bigot and Homophobe is hurled towards those with a different attitude.

To digress, I don't agree with mass immigration so am I racist as well ?
Chuck in Europhobe and I've got a full set.”
