“3G coverage in the city is already patchy, to say the least, but the big issue with mobile vs fixed line broadband is the relative cost of data. If 3G were reliable at my house in West Hull the speed is comparable to Karoo's fixed broadband, but significantly more expensive per GB of data. The same is likely to be true with 4G vs FireOptic.

For those who only have minimal online needs, email and a bit of surfing, that might not be an issue, but for anyone looking to download consistently more than 10GB per month will probably still be better off with a fixed line connection.

Oh, and I am still waiting for Vodafone to be available at all in Swanland.”

“I'd rather wait to get 100meg fibre from KC.

I've seen it all before with WAP and to some extent 3G, mobile services are unreliable and Freeview will affect 4G. You can't beat broadband on a fixed line.”

“We were told a while ago that 4G would interfere with Freeview and we would all have to pay £200 to have that corrected. No more has been said about that. Is it just going to be sprung on us?”

“I would be happy if Orange/T-Mobile could provide consistent 3G coverage within the city boundary and 2G without drop outs around the villages.”
