Hull city centre kicks off Christmas with buskers and roller-skating puddings

Visitors to Hull's Old Town today will be entertained by a variety of performers to kick-off the festive season.

Festive musical Saturdays, which will run until December 15, will include live music, jugglers, stilt walkers and roller-skating Christmas puddings.

People young and old can enjoy entertainment from people dressed in Dickensian costume to Santa's juggling elf.

There will also be classical, Latin, folk, contemporary and soul music performed by local artists such as Ti Amero, Cadenas Vivas, Jodie Watson, Dan Furniss and soprano Rebecca Newman.

The performances will take place from 11am to 3pm in Queen Victoria Square, Beverley Gate, Parliament Street, Trinity Square and Princes Dock Street.

Councillor Terry Geraghty, portfolio holder for leisure and culture, said: "Saturdays in the Old Town are going to be transformed in the run-up to Christmas with a variety of street performers creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere.

"It will show off the diverse talent of our performers and bring culture to the streets."
