Ocean Colour Scene guitarist and sharp dresser Steve Cradock will be unspooling some of his Britpop hits in Hull, next week.

Steve, who splits his time between being Ocean Colour Scene's mod-inspired musical director and Paul Weller's right-hand man, will play The Piper Club, in Newland Avenue, Hull on Saturday, March 3.

Despite his commitments to OCS and Paul Weller (he's performed on all of the Modfather's solo records), Cradock has found time to record two solo albums of his own.

The latest, Peace City West, was released last year.

He'll be playing tracks from both his solo offerings, plus a selection of his 1990s hits at the Piper.

"It's quite a mellow record," says Cradock of his new album.

"Which is probably a reflection of where it was recorded.

"It was in a barn on a farm at the southernmost point in Devon. It's not air-conditioned, it' svery rural and it's full of magical instruments."

Ocean Colour Scene achieved huge success in the 1990s, scoring two million-selling albums with Moseley Shoals and Marching Already.

Marching Already even knocked Oasis's Be Here Now off the chart's top spot. The Birmingham based outfit is still probably best-known for the songs The Day We Caught The Train and The Riverboat Song, which served as the theme tune to Chris Evans's TFI Friday TV show, but the group have gone on to record a further six albums, including 2010's Saturday.

Cradock's acoustic band supported Liam Gallagher's Beady Eye on tour last year.
