Hull gritters ready for East Yorkshire snow, city council say
Hull City Council claims it is ready to deal with the snow predicted for the region this weekend.
After the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for the east coast, the council's streetscene services said they are ready to work 24/7 to keep the city moving over the cold snap, which forecasters say could see up to 10cm of snow on the ground.
Gritters will be out, with a focus on the key routes that carry the majority of traffic. City centre streets with high footfall will also be targeted.
There are also 420 new grit boxes now located throughout the city which can be used on any public highway but are not to be used for private residential use.

“but exactly how prepared are the council as the ice that we had at the back end of 2012 was not dealt with at all on Anlaby Road , Hessle Road footpaths are gritted by the council all the way to Pickering Park but none of the footpaths on Anlaby Road were touched . As it is a major thoroughfare into Hull you would think HCC would send their gritting team to alleviate people injuring themselves or at least put grit boxes in place so I can put grit down not only to protect myself but to protect others , lets hope they pull their fingers out , we all know they won't !!”

“A bit flappy, for real winter weather see the US east coast. A flurry and a scrape of the windscreen a couple of mornings wont bring Hull to a standstill. Now the clowns in the council traffic control system, thats another matter...”
