Hull named as 'hotspot' for families waiting to adopt

HULL has been named as a hotspot for families looking to adopt - with more than 58 children waiting for new homes.

The service has also been deemed 'good' in a new OfSted report after it approved 26 adoptive families and placed 46 for adoption in the past year.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council's adoption service also received a 'good' report and has between 18 to 32 children on the waiting list.

Would-be adopters can access a new map showing the areas throughout the country with the highest number of children looking for new parents.

Edward Timpson, Children and Families Minster, said: "Today we are providing potential adopters with the tools they need to find children who need adopting right across the country.

"Together, the telephone 'infoline' and the new 'hotspots' map will arm would-be adopters with the information they need to approach any local area."

A new telephone information and advice service staffed by adopters will also open today, call 0300 222 0022.
