A FILM about the life of an infamous gangster who served time in Hull Prison will be filmed in the city.

To Kill Or Be Killed tells the life story of Jimmy Tippet Junior, who lived the life of a playboy after being born into a gangster family in London in the 1970s.

The 38-year-old lived in Hull from 2000 until 2004 after meeting and falling in love with a Hull woman at Doncaster Races.

Jimmy was later sent to Hull Prison after being sentenced for grievous bodily harm.

It was in the east Hull jail that he wrote his autobiography which is now being made into a £6m film.

He said: "I said that Hull has got to be in the film. Hull is a massive part of my life.

"It's where I was married, where my daughter Masie was born, and also where I wrote my autobiography.

"We plan to film at the prison and in the city centre."

Jimmy, and his father Jimmy Tippett Senior, who worked alongside the infamous Kray twins in the 1960s, went straight from school to work as a driver for some of the capital's most notorious villains.

Soon he was immersed in a high-octane life of drug deals, armed robberies and gun running.

He sold luxury cars, £10,000 watches and fake credit cards.

A vicious spiral of crime led him to Belmarsh Prison.

The film is being produced by Goliath productions and is set to star big names including Ray Winstone, Vinnie Jones, Bob Hoskins and Billy Connolly.

The role of Jimmy will be played by British actor Duncan Mais, who has starred in Thugs, Mugs and Violence.
