A BBC documentary featuring Hull's young people arrested for drink-fuelled crime will be aired tonight.

Film crews spent a year capturing the behaviour of some of Hull's 2,000 boozing youngsters arrested every year.

Called The Lock Up, the BBC3 episode aired tonight follows Humberside Police officers tasked with looking after drunken young people in custody.

These include a mum-of-two and a best man arrested after a fight after a wedding, along with a thief who has been addicted to heroin since he was 15.

“Did anyone watch this? In my opinion I thought some of the police were unprofessional acting giddy and making Sexual innuendos, and was that nurse a bit slow fluttering her eye lashes at the cameras.
Why go in front of the cameras and show yourselfs up in that way.
We know you do a difficult job at times but please act professional.”

“I have lived in quite a few cities in the UK, including Hull, London, Glasgow and now Edinburgh. London was a fabulous place to live and work. Glasgow is a very friendly place - you can walk in a pub and anyone will chat to you. Edinburgh is the winner - a beautiful city with a diverse population and plenty of leisure activities.

Hull is my home city - and to tell you the truth - I walk the streets at night with one eye over the shoulder looking out for trouble. The city centre is rife with trouble at night. I was in a pub in Hull last year, and was intimidated by a group of males who were obviously out for trouble. I was deliberately pushed over for no reason at all - they were obviously looking for a reaction so they could 'justify' punching me. They didn't get that reaction - what they got were bouncers ejecting them.

Of all the cities I have lived in, Hull is the only place I have had such trouble.

Perhaps the BBC are right for choosing Hull for such a programme?”

“They would struggle to make a documentary of this kind in London owing to the fact that hardly anybody there speaks English.”

“Maybe all the shootings, the knife attacks, the rapes, the gangwarfare, the muggings, the robberies, etc that happens on a daily basis in London has become so boring and common, that the producer sought a bit of excitement for the Southern viewers by filming a few drunks?.”

“"Where is the Siemens angle to this story? or the JLS aspect?"

What's JLS? I understand the Siemens reference, but JLS?

Just one more bit of moron-fodder. Companies seem incapable of producing anything but this sensationalist so-called reality TV. Sadly there are people who will happily pop out to Asda in their pajamas to buy some cheap booze which they will then consume whilst jeering at the antics of the other pissheads on the box. At least the drunks being arrested will probably have spent some money in the pubs, unlike their armchair critics.”

    “@E, Hull

Your comment made me laugh! =) I wasn't actually visiting London I got on the train at York and got talking to the bloke, polite chit chat and he asked where I was heading and that's when he told me. I was quite taken aback, and obviously I stuck up for Hull. He mentioned people walking about in there pjs and everyone been chavs and stuff. I basically told him he knows nothing and turned away from him! He looked like a scroat hisself to be honest!”
