Celebrity conspiracy theorist David Icke has invited David

Davis to a debate on Britain's so-called Big Brother state.

In an exclusive interview with the Mail, Mr Icke said he had

written to Mr Davis inviting him to discuss the issues in an

“atmosphere of mutual respect” ahead of the Haltemprice and

Howden by-election on Thursday, July 10.

Last week, Mr Davis wrote to Hull's Labour MPs and every

Cabinet minister, challenging them to a debate on the issue of

42 days' detention for terror suspects, after both Labour and

the Liberal Democrats decided not to contest the seat.

So far, no one but Mr Icke has come forward to take up the

challenge.

Mr Icke, 55, famously ridiculed on Terry Wogan's television

chat show after claiming he was the son of God, told the Mail:

“If David Davis wants a public debate on the issues, then I

will give him a debate on the issues.

“I am not challenging him to a debate because I am not in

the business of ya-boo politics, plus I also agree with him on

the basics.

“But I am asking for a debate in the constituency so that

the issues can be debated – not in a 'me against you'

situation, but in an atmosphere of mutual respect.”

The former footballer and BBC sports presenter, who is

standing in the by-election under the banner Big Brother – The

Big Picture, said: “If he doesn't accept my invitation, I shall

be rather taken aback because no other party is giving it to

him and I am someone who has done research on this issue in 42

countries.”

Mr Icke, whose views are thought to have the backing of pop

singer Robbie Williams, claims to agree with Mr Davis on the

issue of 42 days and even hopes the former shadow home

secretary “wins by a landslide”.

But he claims Mr Davis' position does not go far enough and

the creeping surveillance state has become a global issue.

“Bin fines....... mums fined because their toddler dropped a bit of fruit peel fines......fines for writing 'for sale' in your car window.......50mph fines on an open stretch of road fines.....fines for me, fines for you......lets all have some fines please...they're so much fun! So the question is: 'are we going to stand for it?' and the answer is...altogether now: NO!!! Look on the UK Independence Party website for a glimpse of what the EU is bringing about.Tell your friends tell everyone you meet even if they think your daft, and remember that 'giving up' is not an option. I wish you all peace, and good luck.”

“Whether Mr Icke is a nutter or not is not the point in question. I have met a lot of nutters in my life who actually had a lot of valid thoughts and opinions on life. That is why I was open minded enough to at least give Icke a hearing, i challenge anyone who has not listened to his view on how the world is heading towards fascism to at least watch ONE of his videos on you tube. Go on, I dare you. I am grateful for the information I have gained from this man. In a world where you can't put your bin out a day early without facing a large fine isn't it time we started doing something? The officers of the new E.U. police force,Europol, are immune from criminal prosecution should they break the law while carrying out their activities. I have double checked this with my MP. MP's in Westminster are seriously worried because its become obvious to them that there are many sinister things about the E.U..The Lisbon Treaty forms a constitution for a 'country' called Europe. The end of Britain.”

“David Icke is the sanest person in the whole debate. His openmindedness and willingness to weather ridicule frees him to research and talk about what is really going on rather than parrot consensus nonsense. If anyone really still thinks he is a luny i recommend they read his books or attend a talk before they pass further comment.”

“If we really want better lives then it makes sense to open our minds to information that is useful. David Icke has dedicated himself for years to researching and making available such useful information to us. And been willing to endure ridicule in order to do this. He is one of the sanest and wothwhile people I have ever come across. It's worth reading his books or seeing his talks if you still think he's a luny - you amy change your mind.”
