A Clive Christian kitchen is enviable enough, but to have one that merited a visit from Clive himself sets it apart as a rather stunning creation. In fact, the kitchen at Jillywood Farm is so impressive, Clive Christian wanted to feature it in the media campaign for his luxury kitchens.
The owner of the two-year-old kitchen declined, but now there’s a chance for someone else to enjoy it, for Jillywood Farm is on the market.
Located at the end of a private drive three-quarters-of-a-mile long, Jillywood Farm is surrounded by open countryside two miles outside Beverley.
Built as a T-shaped Georgian farmhouse, it had become derelict as the 20th century drew to a close. It was rescued and restored by the previous owners before being extended and transformed by the current owners into a splendid six-bedroomed residence.
“The front of the house is now the only original exterior wall,” says the vendor. “We built on to either side of the “T” and did a double-pitched roof, so there are more rooms and bigger rooms than previously.”
The owners built a detached cottage for themselves to live in while the work on the main house was being done; this now provides garaging, a games room and self-contained guest accommodation.
The entrance porch has a leaded glass door and slate floor and leads to the hall, which has an oak floor. Off here, as well as the staircase to the first floor, the main reception rooms are located.
To one side is the snug, which has a very unusual rustic limestone fireplace. Like most of the ground-floor rooms, it also has a beamed ceiling.
Measuring 26ft 2ins x 15ft 5ins, the kitchen has a central island unit in oak and burred oak with an inset black granite sink and drainer. The travertine floor, by Terranova, has underfloor heating.
There is also a good range of bespoke white painted wall and base units and drawers, and many top-quality appliances, including integrated Fisher & Paykel twin dishwasher, Wolff oven and hob, Miele coffee machine, wine fridge and an Aquavision plasma TV set into the granite splashback. There is also a twin-bowl Franke sink in a bay window recess.
The kitchen is open plan to the breakfast room, which has more Clive Christian cabinets, as well as double French doors leading to the terrace.

The utility room has traditional cabinets with granite worksurfaces and incorporates a Belfast sink and an integrated Samsung American-style refrigerator with ice maker. A door in the floor opens to access an underground spiral wine cellar to store 1,000 bottles.
Double doors lead from the breakfast room to the dining room, which has French doors to the terrace.
Also overlooking the rear garden is the spacious drawing room, which, like the dining room, has oak flooring. It also has a limestone fireplace and double doors leading to the fully-glazed garden room. With travertine flooring and underfloor heating, it also has French doors to a decked area.
Also on this floor is a cloakroom with WC.
A staircase with turned balustrade leads to the first-floor landing, off which the six bedrooms and four bathrooms are arranged.
The master suite has a spacious bedroom with windows to the south and west; it is open plan to the dressing room, which has a large walk-in wardrobe with hanging space, drawers and shelves. The en-suite bathroom has a whirlpool bath set in a limestone surround, a WC, washbasin and a shower cubicle and steam room with a limestone architrave.
The second bedroom has a view across open fields to Beverley Minster in the distance; its en-suite bathroom is fully tiled in limestone and it has a walk-in wet shower area with a glass screen and an opaque glass basin on a timber plinth. It also has a WC and underfloor heating.
Bedrooms three and four both have access to a shared en-suite bathroom, which has a corner shower cubicle, a WC and washbasin.
The fifth bedroom overlooks the front and has an en-suite shower room with corner shower cubicle, wash basin and WC. A fitted dressing room is located between this bedroom and the master suite.

The sixth bedroom is currently used as an office and is well-equipped with fitted furniture, including desks, drawers and bookshelves. It is handily located next to a walk-in storage cupboard, which has services laid on for en-suite facilities.
Outside, the detached guest residence has a double garage and a games room, above which is a kitchen, sitting room, bedroom and shower room.
In between the two residences is a timber-framed pantiled carport.
The five acres of grounds include a full-sized, floodlit hard tennis court, a kitchen garden, a fenced dog run and a trout pond with fishing jetty.
The gardens are mainly laid to lawns, with some shrubbery and trees. Closer to the house are areas of terracing and decking.
Jillywood Farm is a versatile property, equally suited to a family as to an executive couple. Similarly, it would be perfect for followers of country pursuits or just country lovers.
Jillywood Farm is on the market at £1,750,000.
