Isles of Wonders ceremony was a hit
THE opening ceremony of the London Olympics took place on July 27 in the Olympic Stadium.
The Games were formally opened by the Queen.
An actor – disguised as Her Majesty – parachuted into the stadium.
Moments earlier, the crowd had watched, on a giant screen, the real Royal talking to James Bond actor Daniel Craig.

The spectacle was entitled Isles of Wonder and directed by Academy Award-winning British film director Danny Boyle, with music specially written by electronic music group Underworld.
The ceremony reportedly cost £27m to stage and was watched by 26.9 million people in the UK alone – the largest average audience since 1996.
It was one of the top 20 most-watched UK TV broadcasts of all time.
