Jobs at risk as High Street chain Republic goes into administration
Administrators have been called into Yorkshire clothing chain Republic.
The fashion firm, which employs 2,500 people, has a store in Hull's Princes Quay Shopping Centre.

Its 121 outlets will continue to trade as administrators Ernst & Young search for a buyer.
However, 150 staff have already been made redundant at Republic's head office in Leeds.

The firm, which began as a denim retailer in the 1980s, was hit by a "sudden and rapid decline" in sales at the end of last month.
Administrator Hunter Kelly said: "Republic suffered poor trading results in the autumn, and whilst sales picked up in December there has been a sudden and rapid decline in sales in late January.
"We will continue to trade Republic, with a view to selling the business as a going concern. The brand Republic is well recognised, particularly in the North. It has a powerful website offering, owns well-known brand names, and has some very attractive and profitable stores."

“If it had stuck to designer Denim it may have kept a good reputation. As it is it's just another clothing shop and places like Primark are cheaper. It always sorry to see job losses, especially at this time, but hopefully the staff can be kept on and a buyer with more style found. Good luck to them.”
