Kieran Eastwood and Neil Baker progress to Talent Trail semis
TWO Talent Trail veterans are swinging their way through to the semi-finals.
Neil Baker and Kristian Eastwood impressed the judges in the latest round of the Mail competition.
Both have taken part in the contest in previous years but have never claimed top spot.
Neil, 37, of First Lane, Hessle, showed off his skills with renditions of Home, by Michael Buble, You Know Me, by Robbie Williams, and Shine, by Take That.
Kristian, 25, of Chanterlands Avenue, west Hull, won his place in the semi-final after performing swing versions of Fever and For Once I My Life and Michael Buble's Lost.
Neil, who works in human resources at Hull College, told the crowd at Hull Trades and Labour Club, Beverley Road, how he only had minutes to prepare for the heat.
"I had been to Warwick for work and only got back into the city centre at 6.45pm," he said.
"I didn't even have enough time to iron my shirt, but I made it in the end and I am really pleased to be going through."
Unemployed Kristian said: "I am buzzing. I love singing swing and will be sticking with it for the semi-final."
Narrowly missing out on semi-final places were Finlay Bateman, 16, of Boston, Lincolnshire, Kieran Duff, 21, of Etherington Drive, north Hull, Laura Mason, 16, of Hadleigh Close, central Hull, and Claire Louise, 20, and Steve Ellis, 31, both of Woolwich Drive, west Hull.
The next round of the competition takes place on Tuesday.
The winning contestants in each heat will progress to the semi-finals, hoping to secure a place in the final at Hull City Hall, on Thursday, May 20.
This year's event is being sponsored by Devilfishpoker.com – run by Hull-born poker player Dave "Devilfish" Ulliott.

“Congratulations to Neil and Keiran on going through.Well done to the reporter ,too for reporting honestly.Heat 13 was reported by J.Hunter and she did not.She put a headline saying that Jonathan Copley came 1st and Lewis Stead was runner up.This simply was not true! Two go through on equal terms.Very misleading and VERY annoying.Good luck lads.”

So which is it? Kieran or Kristian? Do HDM not proof read before releasing news articles?”
