Kirsty Duncan and Renie Groom seal Talent Trail progress
A SCHOOLGIRL songstress has won through to the next round of Talent Trail 2010.
Kelvin Hall School pupil Kirsty Duncan, 16, belted out classics including Think Twice by Celine Dion, How Will I Know by Whitney Houston and Keep on Singing my Song by Christina Aguilera.
It is the first time she has taken part in the competition after singing all her life.
She said: "I am really excited to have got through. I was really nervous singing.
"I have always been singing but when I was about 13 I started doing proper singing lessons.
"In the last two years I have got right into it and would love to go into it as a career."
Joining Kirsty is 30-year-old Renie Groom.
Mr Groom grew up in the Philippines but moved to the UK in 2008 to teach.
The Beverley-based singer entertained the audience at the Dene Park Sports and Social Club, in Dunswell, with The Climb by X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Dance with My Father by Luther Vandross and Home by Michael Buble.
In total six acts were competing for a place in the next round.
The other four were Josh Johnson, 16, from Lincolnshire, Mark Robinson, who played the electric keyboard, the Kingstown Party Pipers and 23-year-old Becky Smith.
The next heat of Talent Trail 2010 takes place at the Dee Street Social Club, off Hessle Road, west Hull, on Tuesday with doors opening at 7pm.
The winning contestants in each heat will progress to the semi-finals, hoping to secure a place in the final at Hull City Hall on Thursday, May 20.
The winner will receive a prize of £1,500 and the Talent Trail trophy.

“Where do they get the judges from! A dance school and a bloke who looked as bored out of his head as any one could who kept playing with his false teeth, they where some great acts on and they didn't get placed what are they looking for”
