THE Minerva is the latest pub to close this year in Hull as punters choose to stay at home instead of head out for a pint.

Earlier this year, The Lamp in Norfolk Street closed its doors after owners said the business was no longer financially viable.

Promoters were left scrambling to find a new venue for gigs after an announcement on the pub's Facebook page.

Hollywood And Vine in Beverley Road also closed its doors at the end of August after struggling for a number of months to make ends meet.

Manager Mac Tilley said: "It closed due to lack of trade and people not supporting us.

"The company which owns it now wants to sell the building.

"It's quite a large financial project because it needs work doing on it but, you never know, somebody might take it.

"It's always a shame when venues close."
