But Luke's fans have taken to Twitter to reveal they have seen him at a local rink.
One tweet said: "Luke Campbell is training at the same ice arena for figure skating as me."
Another tweet said: "Luke Campbell at Hull Ice Arena getting prepared."
It has also been picked up by online Dancing On Ice fans' forums, which have reported former EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas, who played Anthony Moon, and Coronation Street actress Samia Ghadie, who plays Maria Connor, will line up on the ice for the new series, which starts in January.
The Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Goodger, Pamela Anderson and former Blue Peter presenter Anthea Turner are also reported to be taking part. The show, which features Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean as coaches, is presented by Christine Bleakley.
Celebrity skaters are paired up with professionals and taught how to skate. Each week, they will perform a routine to a live audience.
Judges then give them a score out of ten before a telephone vote is opened for the public to save their favourite skaters.
The two with the lowest votes will go into a "skate-off" for survival, with the judges choosing the celebrity to leave.
St Paul's gym fighter Luke beat John Joe Nevin in the Olympic final to clinch the gold medal – something he had been working towards since stepping into the ring aged 13.
He was welcomed home by 13,000 fans at a civic reception outside Hull City Hall in August.
