MP Graham Stuart is in hospital in France after he was injured in a skiing accident.

The MP for Beverley and Holderness is believed to have suffered broken bones in the accident at the weekend.

Sources at Westminster claim he's broken five ribs and also suffered a punctured lung.

Details of the accident in Chamonix are sketchy, however Mr Stuart is expected to be treated in the French hospital for up to three weeks before he is well enough to be allowed to fly home.

Following dozens of messages on his Facebook page wishing him well, Mr Stuart posted: "Thank you all for your warm wishes.

"I appreciate them all and hope you'll be pleased to know that I'm in good spirits."

    “I agree with Foxache, VicMay, AdPotentia and others who criticized the Honourable(?) Member for skiving rather than striving. I assume that the Tory Chief Whip will be offering strong words of advice to Mr Stuart as to his future holiday plans. Perhaps Mr Stuart's constituents will remember the his truancy when casting their votes at the next general election.”
