Just read the article surrounding yourself and your ideals and it's such a shame people like yourself do not get voted in as unfortunately many of the Councillors, MP's etc I now meet, they lose their idealistic logical opinions and values as soon as they come to office, be it as a councilor, an MP or as Crime Prevention programmes now find out in Hull, or as a Hull City Council high end worker”

“It's kind of funny reading how certain MP's and more especially, Hull City Council workers, are so appalled at funding being cut from Crime Prevention Programmes and Projects when it is Hull City Council that are still preventing a Fully Enhanced CRB safe checked ex-offender, from working on Crime Prevention Programmes for free. Even though the guy has impeccable references from the Ministry of Justice, a former Home Secretary, a current High Court Judge, and other Crime Prevention Programmess etc.

And the reason given for refusal! Because another former ex-offender on a previous crime prevention programme, re-offended some 3 years ago. Although his re-offence was nothing to do with the programme he worked on and even though other the ex-offender in question, last offence was in 2003.

Hull City Council do nothing other than use the "Safeguarding Committee" which is supposed to be a safeguarding tool for safeguarding children, to cover their "jobs for the boys" environment at a cost of preventing massively effective to crime prevention programmes, ex-offenders who volunteer for free, form participating in such prgrammes.

Look at every single council within the country more-or-less and you will see ex-offenders being used on these projects, except of course Hull City Council run or affiliated programmes. So please don't complain about funding cuts when free resources are available but are being stifled.”

The die hard Labourites you think are going to vote for Lord Prescott are not so die hard in this election! I have been doorstepping in Scunthorpe wards where Labour hold big majorities. Your typical Labour voter doesn't want Lord Prescott. A lot of them are telling me if it had been any of the other choices during the Labour primary they would be voting along party lines. Now they are saying they will vote for me. That along with many people who just want an option that doesn't come with any strings attached.

Of course that's just Scunthorpe. What is reflected on the doorstep in Scunthorpe is not what is reflected on the doorstep in Hull.”
