Making sense of Super League #3
1… Capital interest:
It seems rugby league in London will catch the attention of the sports fans around Twickenham. Halifax (1,972) and Featherstone (drew 2,384) bigger crowds than London's 1,887 crowd against Wakefield last weekend. A union/league double header is planned for March 9 to try and get more converts on board.

Thanks to Catalan Dragon prop Julian Bousquet, we can kiss goodbye to the old fashioned shoulder charge as the Rugby League International Federation outlaw it three weeks into the new Super League season.
3… Storm hits Headingley
All eyes will be on Headingley Carnegie on Friday night as the Melbourne Storm face Leeds for the right to be called the best team in the world. Even if it's Leeds, the NRL will still claim the NRL is better than Super League.
4… Thunder storm in east Hull:
Gateshead Thunder will bizarrely kick off their season with a home game against North Wales Crusaders at Hull KR's MS3 Craven Park Stadium wearing Rovers' logo on their kit. Taking dual registration to a new level.
5… Joining Jack:
It was great to see the Joining Jack gesture on show during the first 2 weeks of rugby union's 6 Nations. Former league star Chris Ashton did it after his try against the Scots while Scotland's Sean Lamont did it after wrapping up his side's 34-10 win over Italy.
6… Salford woes:
In their last 7 games, Salford have been leading on the scoreboard for less than 1%. Of the 560 minutes played, the Reds have led for only 5 minutes and trailed for 459 of those minutes (81%).
7… Horne:
14 years after making his debut as a 16-year-old, Richard Horne makes his 350th appearance for Hull FC, averaging 25 games a season. If he played to Steve Menzies' age of 39, he'd be on target for 575. The Super League record is 413 by Keith Senior.
8… Westwood v Webb:
While it may not have been as good as any of the four fights between Manny Pacquaio and Juan Manuel Marquez, it was still a good scrap between two of Super League more law abiding players. Suspended Ben Westwood (8 yellow cards and 1 red card) and suspended Brent Webb (eight yellow cards) are close to securing fights with Carl Froch and Tyson Fury respectively at Madison Square Garden.
9… Ganson greeting cards:
It may only be the third week of the season, but Steve Ganson is on course to set a new record for sin-binnings. In his last 2 games he has shown 5 yellow cards to Graeme Horne, (Hull KR) Danny Kirmond (Wakefield), Danny Addy (Bradford), Justin Carney and Jamie Ellis (both Castleford) and put Con Mika (Hull KR) on report too.
10… Parlez vous Francais?
Congratulations to Wakefield coach Richard Agar on being appointed the French national coach. I'm sure he'll do a good job as soon as he can translate 'us defence was good'.
