Man arrested over scooter rider's death
A MAN has been arrested in connection with the death of a scooter rider following a crash on a notorious East Yorkshire road.
Colin Metcalfe died after being hit by a car in Great Gutter Lane, Willerby.
Mr Metcalfe, 48, of Cottingham, was travelling towards Willerby on his Lambretta scooter shortly before 12.45pm on Saturday when the collision happened.
The crash, near Riplingham Road, involved a Ford S-Max car.
Mr Metcalfe suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital, but died at 2.35pm that day.
A 52-year-old Willerby man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been released on police bail, pending further inquires.
