Police found the stab victim after responding to reports of 20 men fighting outside a fast-food bar in Beverley Road, near the junction with Brunswick Avenue.
When officers arrived, the men dispersed leaving the victim, believed to be about 30-years-old, on the ground with a stab wound.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said the injured man was "stable" and had not suffered life-threatening injuries.
Yesterday morning, the area remained taped off by officers investigating the stabbing and two police cars were still circling the streets.
However, by lunchtime the cordon had been removed.
No further details about the attack have been released and no arrests have been made.
After the Mail contacted Humberside Police, James Cartwright, a divisional campaigns officer for the force, said they would like any witnesses, or anyone with information to contact them.
He said: "We were called to the incident shortly before 2.40am.
"A man, who is in his late 20s or early 30s, was assaulted and taken to Hull Royal Infirmary with non-life threatening injuries.
"We would like to speak to anyone with information about the assault."
Humberside Police can be contacted on 0845 6060222.

“They actually did that in Bridlington, Andy. On the basis there was trouble in a takeaway after clubs shut down they ordered the nearest pizza place to close earlier. so the law-abiding owner, who pays large amounts in rates which includes a precept for policng, had to close early and lose money whilst the clubs shut at the same time. This was hailed as a major policing success in the campaign to make our streets safer by the clown in charge.
Ever known anyone start a fight because they had consumed too many pizzas or burgers?”
