'Mane' reasons why we're such loyal customers

HAIR styles might have changed over the years, but the loyalty of these happy salon customers has never wavered when it comes to where they get their hair cut.

Head Office in Highgate, Cleethorpes, has been open for 21 years and marked the big day by offering clients cuts for the price they would have paid in 1991.

The resort salon has a band of loyal customers who joined owner Beverley Sinclair-Brown for a glass of bubbly to celebrate the momentous milestone and to say thank you for looking after their locks for all these years.

Mrs Sinclair-Brown has loved every minute and is looking forward to the next 21 years. She said: "The years have flown by, I cannot believe I have been here for so long.

"Obviously hairstyles have changed but the continuity of service here has not. People like that, they like seeing the same people.

"We are so lucky to have such loyal customers and to have stayed busy all these years."

Mrs Sinclair-Brown started hairdressing 34 years ago, learning her salon skills at Marina's Salon before setting up solo at Head Office.

She made such an impact on some clients that they followed her to the new premises, including Shirley Cook, 84.

Mrs Cook said: "I have had my hair done here ever since she started. I even followed her from Marina's when she was learning and I have been with her all the way through.

"Hair is a woman's crowning glory, so it is important to have someone you can trust to do a good job.

"Beverley is a nice person and she does an excellent cut. I would recommend her to anyone."

Joyce Portlock, 91, of Bradford Avenue, Cleethorpes, has travelled by taxi every Friday for a shampoo and set for 21 years. She said: "I have never been dissatisfied here. My style has changed over the years. I used to have it dyed but it has gone grey now – it grows too quick!"

Fellow customer Dorothy Codd has made a lot of friends in the 15 years she has been going there: "It is such a friendly salon. We have a good laugh together, you get more than just a cut here.

"Over the years we have had all the styles that are going but now I tend to stick to the same. I have never had a bad do here."

Mrs Sinclair-Brown was thrilled to celebrate her salon's big day with the people who have made its success possible.

"Having a successful salon is all about how you deal with people, you have to appreciate they come here for more than just their hair, they come here for a chat and to socialise.

"I have always said I could write a book that could never be printed from all the things I have heard over the years!"
