Marion is belle of the ball with versatile bob

French Actress Marion Cotillard looked "tres chic" at the recent SAG awards. She hit the red carpet in a gorgeous blue Dior gown and a short asymmetrical bob.

Most hairstyles have symmetry; the same length either side or evenly cut layers, for instance. Adding asymmetry to your style will make a real statement.

It can bold and strong or gentle and subtle. Marion has gone for the subtle route and chosen a bob that looks amazing, but can be easily changed to become more conventional.

Using the images, you and your hairdresser can discuss what style will suit you, and you can manage at home.

To style your hair like Marion's it's essential to start with a great blow-dry. Apply Va Va Voom Blow Dry Mousse evenly through towel- dried hair and then, with a large, round brush, dry your hair a section at a time, pointing the nozzle of the dryer down the hair from root to tip to keep it as smooth as possible.

When you come to the front section, dry your hair with a deep side parting and smooth your fringe over one eye with a little less volume then the rest of your hair. Once all of your hair is dry, to finish your style use your straighteners to gently "French polish" the top sections. Do this by taking a small section of hair, spraying with Work It Girl Shine Protect And Control Spray and then lightly clamping it between the plates of your straighteners on a cooler temperature then you would normally use (180C is the optimum temperature for this). This also eliminates fly-aways and adds a great shine.

If you want to copy Marion's style, tuck your hair behind one ear and spray with Fabulous Finish Spray to hold in place.

However, hold off with too much hairspray on the other side – this style should look soft and natural, never too rigid. Simply finish the style with a spritz of Bedazzled Anti-Humidity Shine Spray to add shine and a light control no matter what the weather.
