“Mr Grove wont know what has hit him. May be he said it but has he divested himself of all competing interests like his business and councillorship. A consoling thought is that Inglis will be perched on his shoulder!”

“I just wish the whole thing hadn't been politicised and that the labour party had had the common sense to put up someone other than John Prescott as in many peoples eyes he was unelectable regardless of his or other peoples maifestos.”

“I just wish you lot had read each candidates manifestos before making judgement!
With a Tory in Power things will be out sourced. No doubt you will soon be ringing the police and speaking to someone like Group 4. You will be offered different levels of service i.e. gold, silver, bronze. Gold = guranteed to see an officer today if you pay a surcharge, Silver = dont pay as much but you will see an officer within the next 24 - 28 hours or Bronze = no cost but cant gurantee when you will get to see an officer. No doubt you would also have to listen to lengthy scripts the operator has to read out. With further cuts that are likely to come no doubt whenever you ring the police/G4S you will constantly get that message "please hold the line, all our operators are busy, your call is important to us, you are currently position number 23".
At least Prescott would have kept the Police Public as it has always been!!”

“What blew it for Baron Hardup, besides the fact he was totally unsuitable & incapable of the job, was that he brought that gurning idiot Bliar on board to publicly back him, talk about the 'kiss Of Death'.
An apt epitaph would be 'From ships steward to champagne socialist'.”

“People were supposed to vote for whoever they thought would do the best job. If they are too lazy too find out about the candidates then that's their problem.
I wouldn't apply for a job without finding out about the company I'm applying to first.
Are seriously suggesting that 85% of people in Hull don't have the internet? No, I didn't think so.
If people would rather wait for propaganda to be posted through their door then that's their business I suppose but I would rather find out about candidates for any election rather than just reading self serving leaflets.”

“@ fdsbfadhsh
regarding the info about the candidates on the net, maybe it was but there are a lot of people that dont have the net, its upto the candidates to get the information to us the voter not the other way round, would you expect a prospective employer to find out all about you instead of you selling yourself with a cv and covering letter ? i dont think so.
put simply people didnt know what or who they were supposed to vote for, it was a sham and thats why there was a low turn out, i also think the politicians should have been excluded from applying as they will only complicate thing with party politics instead of giving 100% to the job”

“Totally agree with Jez Hull. There was more than enough info about the candidates on the internet. The elections were all over the news, all be it in shortish snippets, for a month and more beforehand. Get off your behinds and do some research. Perhaps if people were more bothered about things that matter instead of things like X-factor and Jeremy Kyle then maybe turn out would have been higher.
Then again maybe these appointments ARE as pointless as X-factor and Jezza Kyle.”
