Matty Fryatt nears Hull City return after 'positive' reaction to injections
HULL City boss Steve Bruce is optimistic Matty Fryatt can avoid surgery to cure his nagging Achilles injury and make his return to training in the next week.
Fryatt, the Tigers’ top scorer for the last two seasons, is yet to feature in City’s Championship campaign after being plagued by an injury suffered in the League Cup win over Rotherham six weeks ago.

The prospect of surgery and the threat of missing the remainder of the season was becoming an increasing concern for City’s medical staff, but a series of injections have brought a “positive” reaction for Fryatt.
“It’s been positive this week so we hope in the next couple of days he can come to the party as well,” said Bruce.

“Our top scorer from last season hasn’t kicked a ball for us yet so it would be great to see him firing as well.
“Let’s hope he can shake off the Achilles injury and he’ll be okay.”

“it will be fantastic news if Matty doesn't need an op,but as mentioned in other posts,it will take him a month to get up too speed, having said that,as well as jay Simpson is playing,i.m.o fryatt is a far better forward,he would score goals for fun in this team.
to score 15 last season on his own was remarkable, but as i said jay Simpson is playing very well and long may it continue.
looks like olofinjana could be fit for Sunday,I've always liked him,he is something different in midfield, big decision for Mr Bruce.i could never get my head round why nick barmby wouldn't play oli ?,both olofinjana and fryatt would be in my starting 11.UTT.”

“Evans was pretty much man of the match on Tuesday and he deserves to hold his place. McKenna has played pretty well, but sitting in front of defence is not his position. Either way, we miss Oli's height at set pieces, but the trick is not to give away stupid free-kicks like McKenna is prone to do.”

“Leicester Tigers rugby union team were already down to play on saturday and so get preference. Due to there being a hospital between both grounds the authorities would not allow both to happen the same day. Its a great bonus for those who work saturdays. They can go now. Paul Mckenna is now free to be selected. He has served his 3 game ban. Another bonus especially as Olifinjana looks like missing the Leicester game.”

“would i be right in thinking Mckenna is available for selection after his ban. And yes Citys match is Sunday because the kicky feely rugby is on the Saturday.”

“well Mike it's better than having McClean up front all alone with no other strikers on the bench.
It's the ideal scenario if we get an injury or a suspension.
So I agree and disagree you with at the same time.
we need to keep them all happy
But I am sure they will all get a game
It would be a shame if any of the forwards left now.”

“Dave. Last season we had a great team, but couldn't score goals. No decent strikers. A Problem! This season, we have an even better team, are scoring lots of goals, and have 5 great strikers, a few of whom have to be on the bench. "Not an ideal scenario"! Not sure I'm with you on that one! They'll all get a game and we'll finish in the top 2. The motivation will come from being a Premiership player next season!”
