FLO Hemingway is one of a number of Hessle Road characters to have been immortalised on a community centre mural, right.

The Spirit of Hessle Road at Edinburgh Street Community Centre depicts sporting stars, war heroes, key figures in the fishing industry and the plain eccentric.

Flo is on the mural with her famous beehive haircut alongside other well-known people such as Johnny Whiteley, Joe Longthorne, Lily Bilocca and Tom Courtenay.

The mural was the brainchild of George Magee and began in 1993 but was never finished. Artists Mary Wells and James Deighton finally completed the work in June and it was unveiled later that month.
