HULL KR prop Mickey Paea is confident the Robins can secure a hat-trick of wins at Bradford this weekend – if he and his fellow forwards match the power of the Bulls.

Rovers will be looking to hold on to their top-eight spot in Super League when travelling to Odsal on Sunday, buoyed by back-to-back victories over Warrington and London.

Paea says he has seen confidence grow in the camp over the past two weeks, as well as a new-found steel amongst Craig Sandercock’s men, as highlighted when surviving a mini-fightback by the Broncos last weekend.

“The focus will be to go to Bradford and get the win,” Paea told the Mail.

“The key will be to stop their big men coming at us through the middle.

“We need to get our defence right as we know we can score points. If we are committed in the tackle we can get a result against anyone.”

Rovers, for the most part, got their defence right against the Broncos.

However, Paea admits there were a few heart flutters as London temporarily looked to be mounting a comeback, scoring two tries on the back of KR errors to close the gap from 30-6 to 30-18.

And he praised captain Michael Dobson for settling his troops and seeing the game out.

“We were conscious of what had happened in the Salford game,” Paea told the Mail.

“You only have to look to Salford two weeks ago when we let that massive lead go.

“We were disappointed with our second half show as they scored some sloppy tries.

“Michael was the calming influence. He was very vocal behind the posts and he asked us for a positive response. We needed it and we got it. That got us over the line in the end.”

Paea also says he remembered how Rovers lost to London on the final day of last season, and was delighted to have put that right this time around.

And with back-to-back wins behind them for the first time this season, Paea, who made his 34th straight appearance for Rovers, feels his side are capable of winning many games they were losing last year.

“It’s never easy to go down to London and get the win,” he said.

“We’ll take a lot of confidence from gaining back-to-back wins.

“The key was working on the things we did well against Warrington and building on it.

“Our completion rate was good again, which is needed because these are the games we feel we should be winning to get where we want to be.

“It will go a long way to building up our confidence.”

“I think that the dilemma posted by a fit Craig Hall will be sorted by playing Burns at loose forward. The interesting bit will be the attacking options Craig offers. Should be a great game.”

“I agree Slammer, Hall has to play. On the wing? No - Hodgson is in good form and Brown has certainly earned his spot this week. In the centre? No - Welham and Salter are playing well and it wouldn't be wise to disrupt them.

The only place I would want to play him is stand off with Burns at 13. I can't see this happening though. I literally have no clue what Sandercock will do ! You'd have to assume that Carlile will take a bench spot so and the other 3 spots will most likely be forwards. If he isn't in the starting 13 then I can't imagine him being on the bench.”

“Its a bit like the olde days on here, sensible posts about the article and more to the point rugby!

The key to beating the Bulls will be to register another high completion rate; in other words, stick to the game plan. Rovers kick'n'chase has been very good in recent games and credit must go to Welham and Salter - these two have been unsung heroes in this department.

As 'ra_robin' rightly points out, sammutt and kearney are the dangermen but the bulls have their pack leader langley out (injured) - he has been a real thorn in Rovers side in recent encounters - although young bateman is expected to make his season debut.

However, Rovers will have Josh Hodgson back and Sandy will have a real dilemma over Craig Hall (if he is fit) - where does he play him? Who does he drop? For me, if Hally is fit then he must play. He is far too talented a player to leave out.”

“I agree with all 3 of you, this is easily trhe hardest game to call so far. Bradford have turned out some decent results so far but, as last week showed, they're not quite getting the consistency that all teams strive for.

Despite my wishes for a week where I don't suffer a near heart attack, I predict this being a quite high scoring game which will go to the wire. Recent results show an improvement in Rovers' defence but this will be a real test of their steel. Anyone who plays Rovers will say "stop Dobson (and now Burns) and you'll go a long way to winning", however you could say the same about Sammut and Kearney. They are the danger men for Bradford.

If ever there was a game to play percentage rugby and really focus on turning teams around in their own 20 then this is it. As Swannyred said, Dobson's kicking game will be vital to this. In saying that though, they may have gone down the catchers throat a couple of times but Burns has got a huge boot on him. Hall and Hodgson also kick well so all of these kickers will need to be utilised in order to keep turning Bradford around.”

“We really need Dobbo to have a top game with the boot, both place kicks and field kicks, as this is likely to be a close one. There have been a lot of draws already this season, is this a sign that superleague is becoming more competetive at last? Better also practice the drop goals just in case, lol.”

“True, HKR are getting on the score sheet. But Bardford are a good side as well. This is going to be a good game!”

    “Very close game to call.
It's good to see a stronger Bradford side this season.
SL needs sides like Bradford to be competitive.”
