Missed bin doesn't bode well
Ihad not realised that the fortnightly black bin collection had already started in Hull.
On Thursday, March 7, my full black bin was due to be emptied but unfortunately, the bin men missed my bin and left it at the side of the road, exactly where I'd placed it the night before.
On arriving home from work that evening and finding the bin still full, I contacted Hull City Council's Waste Department and a collection was arranged for the following morning.
To cut the story short, I suffered deja-vu on Friday, Monday and Tuesday when exactly the same thing happened.

Now it is nearly collection day again I have a full bin and some bags of rubbish stored elsewhere that won't fit in the bin.
The council staff told me I could neither leave the extra bags with the bin nor empty my bin in the street for the bin men to pick up.
In the meantime, I will probably attract rats to my garden when I have to start piling the rubbish there.
If this is the service we get with weekly collections, what can we expect when the fortnightly collections start? A month before the bin is emptied?
As I told the council staff, of the 600 proposed redundancies within the council, it appears the bin men seem to be the ones who cannot do their jobs properly and are wasting our council tax.
Of course, the managers should not go overlooked – they are the ones that were supposed to be arranging the re-collections after my complaints but obviously did not.
Perhaps we should revert back to the old metal bins that have to be lifted and carried to the truck – this would make them work for their money.
Rob Dewick, west Hull.
