The investigation into missing student Russell Bohling has been scaled down, Humberside Police have confirmed.

It is six months since the 18-year-old disappeared after leaving his West Ella home on March 2 to go to Bishop Burton College where he studied. His blue Clio was found at Bempton Cliffs the following day.

At the height of the investigation, there was a core team of 12 officers searching for Russell, headed by a detective inspector.

But now, just one police constable is involved with no new evidence having come to light.

A police spokeswoman said: "The investigation is ongoing and is being managed on a day-to-day basis by the missing persons officer based in Beverley.

"After pursuing an extensive number of inquiries, including physical searches, CCTV and interviewing family, friends and students under the direction of a detective inspector, not one piece of intelligence has emerged to provide any new leads.

"On that basis the size of the investigation has naturally scaled down.

"Should any new leads come to light then additional officers will support the missing persons officer in following them up."

Meanwhile, Russell's mother Christine has spoken for the first time of the devastating impact his disappearance has had.

She told the Mail: "It is unbearable. We think about Russell all the time.

"I try to cope by keeping busy by working in the garden or doing something.

"I have also been going to the gym to try and stop the depression and going out more."

"I have lost two and a half stone since Russell disappeared."

“I have never commented before on this site but now want to put some misunderstandings right.

It is the police that have told us that Russell used an external device such as a memory stick via a usb port on his pc to access for the very first time information about the nuclear bunker. He did not download the information from the internet. He last looked at the plans of the bunker only half an hour before he left home for the last time. It is not known who gave him the information about the bunker.

The police have not found any other ex military sites in which Russell had an interest. The only non military point of interest about the bunker is the connection to the occult which is why we have spoken about it.

It is the police that told us that a maximum of 3.8 litres of fuel was used after Russell an I filled up the tank the night before he disappeared. They know this because at our request they emptied all the fuel from the tank and measured it. The police then refilled the tank to full and discovered that the difference was 3.8 litres. Subsequently the car was road tested using only 3.8 litres in the tank on the route taken by Russell and ran out of fuel 20 miles short of Bempton at Brandsburton. The whole road test was filmed.

People want to know why from the start we believed Russell is dead; well think about these questions.

If Russell intended to leave home why would he leave a car with nearly a full tank at an isolated place like Bempton? He could have driven to London after all he had the satnav. Isn't Bempton an odd choice to start your journey from if you want to get away?

If you were planning to leave home would you leave £30 on your bedside table and then never use your debit card again ? Russell did.

If Russell was going to kill himself by jumping from the cliffs why bother to look at the plans of the nuclear bunker half an hour before disappearing?

If he killed himself in the bunker where is his body? The police have confirmed that it is not there that is why they will not search it again.

We want to find out what happened to Russell and we won't stop searching for that information. We hope people will now understand our attitude.”

“What are the police supposed to do?.
All the evidence suggests Russell carried out his taped suggestion he intended to top himself, for reasons we dont know.
Dont want to sound brutal, but I reckon the lad jumped from the cliffs.
He most prob chose that spot, because it meant something to him.
Only thing which is odd, is he left no farewell notes for his mum and dad or his brother. Maybe he knew the pain and perhaps guilt his family would go through, if it was an obvious suicide, and decided to spare them the reasons why he did it.”

“I agree with you mum2, i do feel sorry for her not knowing if her son is alive and well I really do,but her husband is a vile excuse for a human being and I would also like to know if this type was living near me and my family,I do hope the police take action against her husband, but also hope her son is found alive and well.”

“Mike Anlaby "however so chooses to do so" -Does that include living with someone on a sex offenders register and sharing your life with a husband who gets kicks looking at images of both children and humans doing vile things to animals?
I for one dont buy into your theory. Having 2 children living close nearby, i have a right to know that they are safe from harm. This familys life has been turned upside down by their Father, its him you should be telling to grow up. not me lol!”

This poor woman's life has been turned upside down and you come on here looking for her to say something that will make you more sympathetic to her cause. Have a heart and grow up. I for one hope unconditionally that her son is found safe and well and that she can get on with her life again however she chooses to do so.”
