Not content with Avengers Assemble smashing the global box office – it is currently the third biggest movie of all time – plans are afoot to release a three-hour director's cut of the Avengers this August.

That would mean a whole extra half-hour of previously unseen material featuring Thor, Iron Man and Captain "I've got the worst costume" America kicking alien butt. We'll all no doubt assemble again for that.

The cast is slowly taking shape for Jose Padilha's forthcoming Robocop remake – and although we're staying cautious the early signs are promising.

With Gary Oldman and Samuel L Jackson already signed up, one named being touted to play the villain of the piece is none other than Brit House star Hugh Laurie.

The latest childhood memory to be trawled through the celluloid mire is Tonka Trunks, which is somehow to be made into a film with a story and everything.

Ray Winstone, aka The daddy of British character actors, has been offered the role as the baddie in the forthcoming big screen retelling of Noah's Arc.

Darren Aronofsky's epic take on the Biblical story will featured animals going two by two into the arc to avoid God's watery wrath. Russell Crowe will play Noah.
