Musicians of all abilities wanted
Every one can appreciate the importance that music plays in our culture, just look at the number of performers at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. Because of this, lots of people, in their youth, learned to play a musical instrument. Those who have a high level of skills playing, are well catered for by the orchestras in the city, such as The Hull Phiharmonic or The Hessle Sinfonia. Those under 16, living in Hull, have the excellent Hull Music Service catering to their needs. However, what about those under 16 living outside Hull, those over 16, or those that think they do not have the skills to play in one of the orchestras that already exist? I think that I may know what the answer to that situation may be. Heyop (Hull and East Yorkshire Orchestra Pals) are a community based orchestra that has members of all abilities, from absolute beginner, to accomplished maestro. We play mostly light classical and popular music and should have something that should suit everybody. We put on concerts throughout the year in the local area.
We play our final concert of the season at the Swanland Nursery and Garden Centre on 18th August, starting at 2.30 p.m. so come along and see us if you have time, and we stop at about 4 p.m.. Alternatively, rehersals for next year start up again on the 16th September in the Tower Hill Methodist Church Hall, that is just off Hessle Square, starting at 2 p.m. and usually finish at 4 p.m. If you want to chat to somebody to find out more, then you can call me, Tony Ryan, on 01482 646482.
