CLEETHORPES Academy student Beth Redmond was thrown in at the deep end when she took her first-ever singing exam at Grade Five.

But Beth, 15, and fellow students Shannon Grimmer, 15, and Olivia Rogers, 13, triumphed in their individual exams.

Both Beth and Shannon were awarded Grade Five merits from the University of West London board of examiners, while Olivia was awarded Grade Three merit.

Beth said: "I am really pleased to have passed the exam. I am hoping to study music for A-Level."
