New 10-year contracts are worth £200 million

THE region's two councils have started the process to award new contracts worth £200 million to manage the area's waste for the next ten years.

They cover recycling and composting household rubbish, treating non-recyclable waste and running household waste recycling sites and centres in both Hull and the East Riding.

Expressions of interest are being invited from companies before a shortlist of potential tenderers is drawn up.

A joint team from both councils will offer briefings later this month to interested companies.
