NEW Hull KR prop Adam Walker is confident he will prove himself in Super League with his aggressive style of play.

And the 21-year-old says he will give his all to repay the faith Rovers have shown in him, paying an ‘undisclosed fee’ to sign him from Huddersfield.

Walker, who is a product of the Giants’ academy and has spent five years at the club, has penned a three-year deal at MS3 Craven Park.

And he is confident the move is right for his career, as he looks to build on four Super League appearances last season.

“I didn’t know too much about the interest until I got a call saying they had watched me last season and had been impressed with what they had seen,” Walker told the Mail.

“Craig Sandercock has told me that he likes the aggressive way that I play the game, and he has told me how he sees me fitting into the squad and what he expects from me.

“He has also told me the weaknesses which I need to improve on, which are all the little things in my game.

“Now, I just want to work hard in pre-season to prove myself.

“Hull KR have been prepared to pay money to bring me here, and that is a great boost as it says they rate me and that I am wanted.

“Now I have to work hard to repay their faith in me, and to prove myself to the fans.”

Sandercock was delighted to have added another emerging English player to the Robins’ squad.

He said: “Adam fits the profile that we’re looking for in that he’s young, he’s English and he’s very keen to learn and improve as a player.

“I watched him a few times last season and was very impressed with what I saw. He has a lot of potential and if he works hard and maintains the right attitude then he has a great chance of establishing himself as a Super League player.”

“All you Dobbins fans who think the article by Dobson is good news should read the article again,Dobson says "I'm going nowhere UNTIL SOMETHING COMES FROM THE CLUB",in other words until the club releases him which everybody knows is what he wants.
Poor old auntie Slammer grasping at straws again, she should stick to her embroidery after all she got a degree in it.ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha”

“Bungle, don't worry lad, we're not concerned. We'll manage with what we've got if we don't get another number 7 in time for the start of the season. But we've got money to spend and will bring in a player when we can. We proved last season that we can silence a noisy crowd with half our team out injured, didn't we ?”

i doubt anyone HFC or HKR have seen the lad play so lets comment when we have all had the chance to see him”

“FC on the Down, you haven't heard of Rovers signings?

well I have heard of Hull's, all big names.

    Lopini Paea
    Rangi Chase
    Jacob Miller
    Kyle Amor
    John Bateman
    Scott Prince.

Shame they all said 'on yer bike'.

Do you know your club did not even meet Scott Prince despite what it told you (how embarrassing)

Do you also know your club didn't even approach Castleford about Rangi Chase.

    http://tinyurl.com/8wskh88

They're led you a merry old dance and still you don't get it do you?

"We have made six signings who we know are quality. They are in the bag and we will announce them in September when we can. We are really happy with what we have got. They are quality players. We need three more, we know who they are, and we will get them."

    Adam Pearson, July 2012."”

“Good signing (for the rest of the teams in SL)
Never heard of him to be honest, like most of KR's signings. Like the post by kevsguitar earlier :

"An astute signing that could reap massive dividends. It's obvious that the entire game is going to have to cut down on the use of imports in the next few seasons and in particular have to stop the old men using super league as a pension.

It's also obvious that Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum (Gentle & McCrae) have very little knowledge in actual coaching which is why FC need to recruit older players. It's a well known fact that anybody can coach a team of internationals, and as an observer I would say Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (Gentle & McCrae) 'manage' more than 'coach.' I predict one of them will get the sack during the coming season.

I am really looking forward to next season at Craven Park. Watching young talent play sport is far more rewarding to me (win or lose) than watching a bunch of old 'has beens' call the shots!"
    .

Looks like you're already gearing yourself up to watch poor rugby again next year judging by your post, especially when you put "(win or lose)".
I'd get used to losing more than you win.”

“Slammer not once have I called Manu ,far from it ,He was one of our star players last season and he will be missed. My point was that Rovers fans, you included said Ellis was too old and over the hill and here for his pension , yet Manu is older..you go on to say …Also, if you read my post again I do not 'call' Arundel/Crookes, what I was alluding to is the fact fc will be going into next season with a new right-side pairing - remember, AP is demanding fc finish in the top 4 - and they will need to hit the ground running if they are to measure up to this task. To me that is a big ask of 2 young players - probably too much to ask at this stage in their development. Yet you recently said how good the Gleeson and Caro pairing will be,same thing never played together and on top of that both are very poor in defence ,that's from their old clubs fans and Caro played very little .Arundal and Crookes have some experience the former being a Knights player I think you underrate him. IMO rovers are weaker than last you differ but if Rovers had signed players from amateur league you would still say the same ,its all based on wanting to play for your club and not here for a ride ,if your not good enough you will be found out and no matter how much you want to play for the club it makes no difference ask all the players who have tried and failed all wanted to pull on a Rovers and Hull shirt and give 110% .Murrell was a prime example gave is all but not good enough ,I will defy anyone who says he did not give is all”

“The question is not is Walker better than Taylor as that is irrelevant, the question is, is he a better bet than the young forwards we already have? He comes over initially as having just the attitude Rovers need are could be a good signing. Nobody is expecting big things next year but if every player "has a go" and the coach does a better job then there is no reason to not finish 8th at least.”

“albany, the answer to your Q is moot. TBH I haven't seen Adam Walker play; all I know about him is what I have read, probably the same material like most Rovers supporters (and you).

But the big assumption (of yours) is that Adam is a replacement for Scott, yet my take on it is he will be vying for one of the prop positions, in particular, with Green and Beaumont.

As for your quips about Meeks, Paea, Tui and Paterson (based on your insider knowledge from bogus Rovers fans); Paea was a constant threat all season, Meeks made the Exiles, Tui has the endorsement of Endacott (who rarely makes such statements), and Paterson is a super fit athlete albeit coming to Rovers to resurrect his career.

Also, if you read my post again I do not 'call' Arundel/Crookes, what I was alluding to is the fact fc will be going into next season with a new right-side pairing - remember, AP is demanding fc finish in the top 4 - and they will need to hit the ground running if they are to measure up to this task. To me that is a big ask of 2 young players - probably too much to ask at this stage in their development.

And as for your Manu put-down, it is common knowledge on these threads how influential he was last season. That comment was a huge blunder on your part, shades of he's no longer an fc player so he is now rubbish. You really ought to think before you hit the submit Lol!”
