Hull City have sacked manager Nick Barmby.

The club released an official statement this afternoon confirming the Tigers legend had been dismissed over what it described as "wholly misleading" comments he made in the media regarding transfer policy.

As reported in today's Mail, Barmby had been expected to end his long association with the Tigers following a second disciplinary hearing with vice-chairman Ehab Allam.

He was suspended last Monday over the comments.

The fallout also saw head of football operations Adam Pearson abruptly shown the door.

Speculation has already begun over who will replace Barmby in the KC Stadium hotseat.

Billy Davies is the early bookies' favourite, while former manager Phil Brown, who led the Tigers to the Premier League, said he would "jump at the chance" to return.

“Not a problem as it has saved me a lot of money as I won't be going next season. The Allams are typical money bully boys who don't care about the club, it's history or anything else. I am finished with them and will be down at North Ferriby instead. Allams Out !
An all those saying they saved the club, well Venky's saved Blackburn but they did not know what they were doing. Allams talk about a gift to the city then they sack a city legend for no reason. They know nothing about football, so what is their motive ?”

“"Here's the crux of the issue (from the Allams):

The comments [by Barmby] concerned were wholly misleading and implied that the board had not made funds available to Nick to strengthen the first-team squad during the January transfer window.

    Barmby's comments have been in anticipation of SUMMER strengthening, not January's! 2 + 2 = 5 here!

In essence Barmby wanted to strengthen in the Summer coming, the Allams three months ago in January. Although it seems the Allams only wanted a short term contract player to the end of this season (from the HDM interview):

Was there enough to bring in the quality of player needed?

    AA: Yes.

EA: I had offered to fund a Premier League quality striker at a level between £30,000 to £40,000 a week for the rest of the season.

FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON [ONLY]! This implies no long term contract = no Billy Sharp!

The devil is always in the details, examination of the Allam statements requires heavy scrutiny!"”

“Please not McCarthy - he is surely one of the most ignorant managers around. When things go wrong he never takes the blame - even when it is clearly his fault. He struggled to keep wolves in the premiership and but for his sacking he would have succeeded in getting them relegated this season instead of the reins being passed onto an even more inept manager - after all nobody else would take the job - which may be the position we find ourselves in.

Mind you McCarthy would be marginally preferable to Megson!”

“When all is said and done I think this is about Ehab not being able to get along with NB or AP. People from the Middle East are notoriously thin skinned and quick to perceive a slight were none is intended.

For me I think the Allams thought there was an alternative power base building up in the Club, their Club, and they didn't like it. So AP and NB walked.

We also have to remember that the Allams are successful businessmen and success in business requires the prerequisite of being able to stand on necks and break a few heads.”

“This is the same merlin who was urging Nicky Barmby to spend in january , and ranting about how a lack of goals was going to cost us....The same merlin who said barmby was clueless during our 10 game run with one win ??

Merlin your spinning faster then a spinning top...

ooo and arent you the Same merlin almost dancing in the street when Phil Brown was sacked..yet getting on anyones back who suports the Allams ..

“Barmby was a brilliant player, just unlucky managment wasnt as bright as his career. always be a legend but what is done is done. mick mcarthy for me as top choice. big trans fund if where lucky could provide what we lack... goals and finesse plus a new pitch would be good. fingers crossed for mcarthy... what do you reckon?”

“Nicky Barmby put his job on the line the day he said we did not need to bring anyone in...

i cant remember one single supporter who agreed with him..

failing to bring some one in cost Hull City a play off spot when we
had a fantastic chance of making the play offs..

Im not suprised the Allams sacked him...

just a few more goals and we WOULD have been in the play offs !!!

My spin is the Allams are MORE ambitious then Adam Pearson and Nicky Barmby

and Nicky Barmby is on record of backing up the ALLAMS as he himself said many times there was money available..

Also Adam Pearson has said on record that the allams have never turned down a request for money....

In my opinion Nick tried to deflect the blame onto the Allams for his lack of action in january..

i dont know....not long ago everyone was ranting about city winning 1 game out of 10 and saying Nicky Barmby was clueless”
