NORTH Ferriby slumped to a shock 2-1 defeat to Ossett Albion in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

Ferriby got off to a flying start when Gary Bradshaw turned his marker to fire home past Jody Barford to give his side the lead after just five minutes.

Danny Clarke then saw his 30-yard curling shot taken by Barford.

It was 20 minutes before Ossett really threatened.

Kurtis Noble broke into the Ferriby penalty area but was well-tackled by Gregg Anderson.

This seemed to lift Ossett and Tom Corner and Darol Lucas both had chances to score

Ossett gradually got themselves back into the game and equalised through Tom Corner’s penalty after 34 minutes.

Ferriby struggled to create any clear opportunities but it was still a surprise when they went behind in the 44th minute.

Hesitancy in defence enabled Corner to hit the goal-line and his low cross was tapped home at the far post by an unmarked and delighted Lucas.

If Ferriby’s fans expected their team to lift their performance in the second half they were to be disappointed.

Chances were limited.

Anderson saw a close range header turned over by an agile Barford and Bradshaw’s overhead kick went narrowly wide.

Steve Gardner saw his cross-cum-shot drop on to the bar and that was the end for Ferriby.

Ossett rarely threatened but they did everything they had to.

Adam Hayton, Marc Thompson and Simon Poole swept-up most of the loose balls in midfield.

They also harried Ferriby’s midfield which struggled to create any clear chances for the forwards.

Ferriby boss Billy Heath was disappointed with his side’s display with too many players off their normal game and not displaying the necessary attitude to win.
