A senior police officer has appealed to a missing East Yorkshire teenager to contact him.

Chief Superintendent Paul Davison said he believed 18-year-old Russell Bohling could still be alive.

The East Riding divisional commander made the plea at a press conference at Beverley police station today.

It is now more than two weeks since Bishop Burton College student Russell, of West Ella, near Kirk Ella, vanished.

Chief Supt Davison said: "I am aware that nationally and locally people go missing for a variety of personal reasons so we understand if Russell does not want to say where he is.

"However, I am urging Russell to contact me or any police officer in confidence and let us know if he is safe and well.

"I would also urge anyone who may be in contact with Russell or have any details about his whereabouts to make contact with officers."

A missing person's enquiry was launched after Russell's car was discovered at the car park at Bempton Cliffs, near Bridlington.

Anyone with information about his disappearance can contact police on 0845 6060222.
