Berni Dobson, headteacher at the school, said: "The students, staff and governors were absolutely thrilled with the outcome.

"We believed we were providing a first-class education in a wonderful environment and we are delighted Ofsted thought so, too.

"We aim to provide an exciting, fun and supportive curriculum where every student, no matter what their difficulties, can thrive and learn, and this was confirmed by the inspectors.

"I would like to thank the staff for their commitment, to make sure each and every day that the students receive the best lessons they can. The students, too, are rightly proud of themselves."

The school teaches about 120 children aged three to 19.

Inspectors said the school was excellent at supporting and educating all pupils.

The report said: "Pupils make exceptional progress academically, socially and emotionally.

"This is because, overall, the quality of teaching is outstanding, as is the care and support offered by staff. Pupils are exceptionally proud of their school and clearly enjoy attending.

"Attendance is high for many pupils, and even those with a high level of medical need attend as regularly as possible."

Inspectors said the head and members of the leadership team share a clear vision of how successful the school can be.

They also praised the support of the governing body.

John Barnes, chair of governors, said: "Tweendykes School has been a very well managed school for some time now, providing excellent levels of education and a wide range of activities for all of the children that attend.

"It is a measure of continuing success that the performance has again been confirmed as outstanding, embracing further high-quality improvements over the past three years.

"It remains our prime objective to do the very best we can for our children and thanks are extended to everyone for their first-class work which enables these achievements."
