Old Town phone box to be painted gold, silver or bronze in Luke Campbell's honour
ONE of Hull's iconic cream telephone kiosks will get a metallic makeover this weekend in honour of boxer Luke Campbell.
On Sunday, KC will paint the kiosk closest to St Paul's Boxing Club, in Hull's Old Town, gold, silver or bronze to mark Luke's Olympic success.
St Paul's is Luke's hometown club, where his road to London 2012 started when he was just 13.
The idea was sparked by the post boxes the Royal Mail has painted in the home towns of London 2012's gold medal winners.

Kevin Walsh, chief executive of KC, said: "Luke's personal drive to succeed and his Olympic achievements have inspired an overwhelming sense of pride among local people.
"When several of our employees suggested we mark his success by painting one of our phone boxes, we loved the idea."
Bantamweight Luke, 24, who grew up near Hessle Road, has already guaranteed himself at least a bronze medal.
He will step into the ring again at the ExCeL Arena tomorrow afternoon to face Japan's Satoshi Shimizu for a place in the Olympic final.
Mr Walsh said: "Luke first came to our attention early last year when he received a KC Community Grant to cover some of his training costs.
"He was relatively unknown outside boxing circles then but we were impressed by his commitment and keen to support him.
"Whether he brings home gold, silver or bronze, his achievements have inspired young people, and especially those training at St Paul's, to strive to be the best they can be.
"We've bought the paint in all three colours but we've kept the receipts for the bronze and silver.
"We'll be glued to our screens cheering him on in the next stage of his journey tomorrow."
The classic K6 kiosk to be painted is in Market Place, Hull city centre, next to Jobcentre Plus.

“What a moronic location, now all the jeremy kyle contestants who hang around outside the dole centre drinking premier lager will be able to ring their drug dealers from a stylish golden box.”

“I don't see the point in copying what the royal mail are doing. It just makes KC look like they are cheap and out of ideas to get a bit of publicity. I hope the lad gets gold medal.”
