THIS weekend's Tribfest is being hailed a success – even by families living near the major music event.

Last year the festival, which attracts 3,000 people to Beverley Polo Club, resulted in several complaints about noise.

But this time most residents the Mail spoke to in the nearby village of Tickton felt the weekend, which showcases tribute acts, had been well organised.

Tribfest, held on Friday, Saturday and yesterday, was in its second year at the polo club.

It moved there from its previous base at Driffield Showground after complaints about noise.

Judy Gordon, 43, lives in St Paul's Way, Tickton, in a property near to the polo club.

She said: "It's not been a problem for us. I was told in the local shop that I was really going to hear it.

"But, to be honest, they turn it off at 11.30pm, which is the right time. I used to live next door to a pub and that was much worse."

But further down St Paul's Way, retired couple Malcolm and Sylvia Allen were unimpressed.

"It's louder this year than last," said Mr Allen, 74.

Inside Tribfest, happy music fans were proclaiming a great show.

Tony Dakin, 28, from Woodlands Road, west Hull, said: "I've been camping since Friday. Kings Ov Leon were great and so was the guy who did Michael Bublé."

Organiser Eddie Faulkner said: "Without a doubt, it's been the best year ever. The weather, the people, the bands the atmosphere – everything was fantastic."

“Just got back from Tribfest, and I and all my friends have had the best weekend in a long time. We saw loads of high quality tribute bands. There really was something for everyone. It was like being at your fantasy festival, but not too big that you keep getting lost. For me the highlight has to be Aynt Skynyd, who unfortunately were on at 12 pm on Sunday, but my god, did they rip the place apart! I have seen a few bands do Skynyrd covers over the years, and saw the original Lynyrd Skynyrd in '76 at Knebworth, and since that legendary performance (when they blew the Stones right off the stage, incidently) I have not seen any band deliver those songs with as much skill, passion and confidence as Aynt Skynyrd did yesterday. This band deserves to be on a headlining slot next year, as they realy are the real deal.
Opening the set with 'MCA' was a statement of intent that they were taking no prisoners - the chemistry between those guys (and gals) was electric. They marched through all the classics, including 'That Smell', 'T for Texas' 'Sweet Home Alabama' and the rousing finale of 'Freebird'. By this time everyone was up on their feet clapping, jumping and screaming. The 8 minute solo played pretty much note perfect and with the added depth of the twin guitar attack, with the rest of the band providing a powerhouse wall of sound behing them. This was one hell of a performance, and if they aren't booked in for next year I'll eat my cowboy hat!
What do you reckon, readers? HELL YEAH!!!
Thanks for a great Tribfest Eddie and see you next year, with Aynt Skynyrd topping the bill”

“But further down St Paul's Way, *professional moaners and gold standard NIMBY'S* Malcolm and Sylvia Allen were unimpressed.

"It's louder this year than last," said Mr Allen, 74.I said it's louder than last year !”

“I was sad to see the Tribfest leave Driffield, driven out by narrow minded NIMBY's who then complain there is nothing to attract visitors to the town. A bit of noise for a few hours a year would have been better than the moaning noise all year from many of the residents in Driffield. I have lived here for 4 years and I have never seen so many moaning old folk in one place! And don't get me started about the amount of disabled badges and electric buggies!”
