Curtis Woodhouse troll spat confirms Twitter is cesspit of inadequates
KUDOS to Driffield boxer Curtis Woodhouse for standing up to a Twitter troll this week.
It's amazing how big and hard people are when they're sniping anonymously online.
-

Curtis Woodhouse showed his champion spirit on Twitter.
After Curtis controversially lost his English light- welterweight title on Friday, some numpty going by the name of @jimmyob88 thought he would spew his vitriol into cyberspace by Tweeting insulting messages to the boxer – probably while sitting in front of his computer wishing he had a girlfriend.
Jimmy, who likes to be known as The Master online, no doubt to make up for the inadequacies of his life in the real world, tweeted unnecessary jibes such as: "What is funny is you put so much effort in, sacrificed all of that time and failed to defend your Mickey Mouse title."

And "Retire immediately, you are a complete disgrace."
"Haha, you lost you silly mug, fight a ten-year-old next time if you want to actually win."
Strangely enough though, when former Hull City player Curtis said he'd turned up at Jimmy's street, the formerly outspoken loud mouth, suddenly had a change of heart, saying:
"I am sorry it's getting a bit out of hand, I am in the wrong, I accept that," and claiming it was "harmless fun".
Well done Curtis, you showed a bully in his true colours.
As far as I can see, this farce has just confirmed my view of Twitter as a cesspit of inadequates.
It's the future I'm told, which is why I'm happy being a dinosaur.

“The fat end of this wedge is the one day you criticise the authorities and hours later you get a knock on the door. Be careful what you wish for.”

“Never mind about Curtis Woodhouse, what we should be talking about is Ian Midgleys' shocking writing!
In 41 years I don't think i've ever read such a badly-worded, amateurish effort at journalism. I'm gobsmacked.
Midgley, you should be ashamed / embarrassed in equal measure.”

“No Ramona, I'm not retarded. I wasn't meaning him, I know he's a grown up! What I meant is generally there is a difference between expressing an opinion and spouting offensive remarks to get a reaction. Which is what you've just done, did I insult you? No, I was just replying to your post but if you can't you can't handle a discussion without calling people names, then you shouldn't be on here.”

“Ann236, are you retarded? Curtis Woodhouse is not a child, he is a professional boxer.
If the idiot came round to my house he would have got short shrift. People should stand up to these bullies who think they can threaten people just because they know how to fight.
Don't forget, "the pen is mightier than the sword". Woodhouse just showed everyone what a punch drunk moron he is.”

“So someone red arrows me on this site, then makes remarks about me. I become so angry I offer a hundred pounds reward for the posters address and make it my mission to travel miles so I can "confront" this spiteful "troll" whilst giving a blow by blow account of my progress in this manhunt.
Maybe if I was about 9 years old I would.”

“This guy is a professional boxer, what the hell was he going to do to this plank if his visit had resulted in a face to face? Punching the guy's lamps out would only result in jail.
DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS! He should have simply blocked him & moved on.”

“RamonaFlowers
Freedom of speech is one thing, I'm all in favour of people expressing an opinion, that why I enjoy reading these comments. However, mindless insults is another thing. This "troll" said what he did because he felt safe behind his computer screen. How many times do we
hear of children being bullied online for no reason, why would someone want to do that?”

“Who is this Ian Midgley to be throwing insults at someone he has never met and knows nothing about. Does Midgley even know what vitriol means, because it doesn't describe what jimmyob88 tweeted.
Mr Midgley the real "bully" is Curtis Woodhouse who threatened to attack a member of the public just because he didn't like what he said about him on the internet.
I would like to know what the correlation is between using the internet and not having a girlfriend.
The person who has really shown their "inadequacy" is Ian Midgley who is impressed by and looks up to a bully like Curtis Woodhouse.
In our society we have freedom of speech which means we should be able to give our views on a topic or person without having to be subjected to physical threats.”

“The reaction seems a bit over the top when you read what this "troll" actually wrote.
There were no personal threats or sick remarks against Curtis or his family as far as I could see, just gutter level criticism of a boxers performance. Pity these youngsters were never taught that song "sticks and stones may break my bones" because Facebook and Twitter seem to cause so much arguments and trouble nowadays. Makes you wonder what could have happened if Curtis HAD found this "troll" and all over some silly typed out words.”

“When I read the the reaction by Woodhouse to his defeat I thought "how pathetic".
His response should have been "That decision was wrong and I want a re-match", not the dummy spitting ,toy throwing "my heart is broken,I may quit"comments.
As for going to his critics house, that is even more pathetic and how this is "heroic" is beyond me. I do agree that going from football to boxing takes a lot of nerve and any title has to be earned however it is regarded.
Having said what I think about the boxers reaction to events (not him personally),I think some of the reported comments by the "I'm so sorry" poster to this and also to other people show him to be simply an idiot.”
