The battling parents will march through Beverley on Saturday to hand in their protest petition to County Hall.
Mrs Reed, who has three children at Dunswell Primary – Georgina, seven, Louie, nine and William 10 – said pupils will join the protest march through Beverley, when they will sing the school song Dunswell Smile.
East Riding Council is one of the worst-funded schools in the country and is looking at how many schools it can justify maintaining.
Dunswell Primary is financially viable but 75 per cent of its 88 pupils come from outside the catchment area, including Hull.
The school could be shut in July next year.
The authority is also facing protests from parents over proposals to close primary schools at Langtoft and Gembling this summer.

“The only way Parno's gang will listen to you is if you embarrass them in the national press. Its been proved (with the cobblestones) that the only thing the lying Torys will take notice of is humiliation and the thought of losing the chance of an O.B.E. or two.”

“I agree, although there can be more intelligent cuts to make then closing a school which is oversubscribed and under budget to share out amongst other schools, including undersubscribed and not within budget.”

“I did wonder when you mentioned the placards. The spelling point was only really an aside to the funding cuts that are going to bite elsewhere as well. Much more to come in cuts I'm afraid. Much, much more.”

“To be honest Millivi, I have just seen it as I went to pick my little girl up, not great! Must say, having done some banners ourselves, when you write on the big old sheets and make a mistake, you can't just start again. Not unless you have an unlimited supply of old sheets so I guess one which has incorrect grammar is better than none at all. I did think you were on about the placards on the picture above and was sat for ages trying to figure out where the mistake was! lol”

“@dickymac - the spelling mistake I saw (when driving past in the car) relates to the incorrect use of the apostrophe and the not using the plural, when needed. You might want to get one of the teachers to check it....unless it was one of the teachers that painted the banner(?)”

“Keep up the good work, "people power" was behind the Council's change of heart regarding Beverley Market Place Setts....we campaigned endlessly and in the end the Council were obliged to listen”

“I live in Dunswell and have a little girl at the school, regardless of where people are from, two mins down the road across the boundary lines in Hull or two mins down Dunswell Lane in Cottingham, we are a community. The community is based around our school which the children and staff make special and will be devastating to all of us if we are unsuccessful.
On another note, I can not find a spelling mistake in the placards, hard as I've tried! Regarding the funding, the Hull LEA pay the East Riding LEA for all the children who attend the school.”

“(The protest banners outside don't exactly help the cause when one contains a basic spelling mistake.)
Members of the public have to be aware of the spending cuts Councils now face. Time for big decisions like this. Expect more schools to shut, libraries to close, sports centres to cut opening hours/close.”

“If you want your kids to go to school in the ER then move to the ER and pay ER rates then you will have a say.Dont expect others to pay for your childs education.Because while you live in Hull you will never be part of the community.”

Whilst I understand your support for the school, you live in Hull how can you be a part of the community, as a whole?”
