MIKE Pecora's second-half strike secured Westella a 1-0 win over Pinxton.

Pecora won a quick free kick that Andy Coverdale played right to Gareth Slater, who in turn played a ball into Jackson's feet.

His neat lay-off found Steve Baross who picked out Pecora to slide past the keeper.

Westellahad the opportunity to stretch the lead only to be thwarted by an in-form keeper and a superb block from the Pinxton centre half.

Pinxton had the chance to pinch a point in the final moments, a low shot brought out the best in Liam Taylor who saved superbly.

Westella: L Taylor, R Dodson, M Thompson, L Jackson, C Plummer, G Slater, D Clement, M Pecora (C Brannigan), B Stevenson, S Baross (R Start), A Coverdale; D McIntyre.
