if you're so keen on the Highway Code, perhaps you should read it. Take a close look at rule 88. I think you'll find filtering is perfectly legal. In fact it gives advice on how to do it safely.”

“@robd65
Filtering between lanes of slow moving or stationary traffic is allowed in the highway code
Rules for motorcyclists part 1 (88)”

I had the missfortune of knocking someone down on my motorcycle, the lad decided to run in between two cars and did not see me inbetween them. He admitted that he did not see me. I however suffered broken ribs, a writen off bike, and £100's out of pocket with excess. The accident was not my fault yet I paid a great deal of money and pain with no chance of getting it back.
I'm interested in this accident. Can you tell us the exact circumstances please?
Were you driving between two lanes of stationary traffic because, like the vast majority of motorcyclists, you couldn't be bothered to abide by the Highway Code and stay in one lane or the other?
If so, then there's no wonder the pedestrian didn't look out for you as he wouldn't have expected you to be there.”

“The Police and insurance company will decide who is at fault, not us on here.

Hope the rider gets better soon.”

“Both a man and a woman were caught on CCTV getting over a street fence then crossing the first part of the road then climbing over the raised flowerbed in the central reservation . I would also say that the pedestrians both caused the accident And should both be prosecuted for causing the accident!”

Please explain to me why is it stupid?
If someone gets knocked over by a car, they that person was obviously crossing the road and failing to pay due care and attention. The car is where it should be, the pedestrian isn't.
Quite simple really, that's why they have jaywalking laws in other countries.”

“More the likely that biker was injured as the result of this woman walking out into his path and we all know once you come off a bike you then have lots of wonderful street furniture looming at you which does the job of breaking ones bones etc.”

“@Robd63 - Yes but thats the point, the buses DO have right of way when they have a green light & if pedestrians waited for the green man before crossing then they are in absolutely no danger of being hit. What difference does the speed of the buses make?
If people used the pedestrian crossings correctly, i.e stop at red man + crossed with the green man not a single person would have been injured or killed there.
The fault lies with the pedestrian everytime at the crossing outside that very badly designed Interchange.
As for your second point, perhaps it should be law that all buses have their front ends wrapped in bubble wrap? Sometimes tragic accidents happen, but should a toddler do what you described then that is the parent(s) fault entirely for not being in control or supervising their child.”

"If an accident occurs anywhere other than a designated crossing point, the fault should always lie with the pedestrian. If someone is hit by a train, it's never the train drivers fault, it's always the persons fault for not looking, should be the same on the roads, otherwise why do we have pavements and designated crossings?
A pedestrian should get into the same amount of trouble for walking in the road as I would for driving on the pavement."
Have you thought about this at all? It is utterly stupid”
