We have just had the police and crime commissioner elections and a Tory councillor put in charge of crime control, so what will 2013 bring us with Mr Grove in charge?

My predictions before he leaves office? Well, privatisation of the police, possibly private frontline police officers from the likes of G4S, but we will have to pay for it through an increase in our police levy.

  1. CHOSEN ONE: The new police and crime commissioner Matthew Grove.

CHOSEN ONE: The new police and crime commissioner Matthew Grove.

I believe Hessle Parish Council already charges a small tax to keep its PCSO.

To all those who voted for the Tories and Liberals that created this coalition Government, thanks for nothing because it will be those on low incomes who will again have to take the brunt of this silly and stupid office from a silly and stupid government that spent £100m on this election.

Do not ask me as a pensioner to pay any more because I will not pay any more to keep the rich and the bankers in the manner they have become accustomed to.

To the people of Hull and the East Riding and, in fact, all of the country, the time has come to stand up and fight.

Your grandparents would not, and did not, put up with this in the 1950s and 1960s.

Now it is your turn to stand up and be counted. United you stand, divided you fall.

Last but not least, of the people who spoilt their votes what did you achieve? Nothing.

And to those who did not vote, don't complain when the above starts to come true.

Dennis Parker,

Anlaby.
