Peter Swan: Hull City's Jay Simpson is a fine player ... he just needs a goal
EVERY game that ticks by without a goal for the Tigers will be playing on Jay Simpson's mind.
It's a striker's worst nightmare to find yourself in the thick of a real goal drought and Simpson looks like a player in desperate need of a goal.
He'll not need me to remind him but it's almost three months since he was last on the mark for Hull City.
I know what Simpson's going through from my days as a centre-forward.

No matter how hard you try, you can't buy a break sometimes.
The goal somehow gets smaller and the keeper just gets bigger.
It's hard not to feel for Simpson because he's doing almost everything right.
His movement off the ball and his awareness are excellent.
As Steve Bruce rightly said after the Leyton Orient away game, if Simpson had have taken his chances he'd have been the best player on the park by a million miles.
It's a big "if" though. Strikers will always be judged on their goalscoring records and the best ones don't let the odd missed chance get them down.
Alan Shearer could have a shocker one week but then come back with a hat-trick the next.
He was the best in the business for over a decade.
Simpson lacks the poise in front of goal to be a striker at the very highest level but there's still a good player in there who's capable of getting himself on a little run.
He showed that at the start of the season when he was banging them in for fun.
That's how some strikers work, they get one and a few more follow quickly after.
If Simpson can manage that between now and the end of the season and weigh in with half a dozen goals, he could still be the difference in City's season. He can't lose that belief.
